Being an agricultural economy, East Godavari is bereft of any large scale industry and service sector. On the other hand, there are about 1.0 Lakh college graduates enter into market every year. This supply-demand gap is a major cause of concern to the district administration.
In this scenario, job trainings are planned through a network of local training centres(Kaushal Godavari Kendras) and Job Melas, convergence among skill development programs of government and partnership with various training organisations and companies.
To harness the potential of youth of East Godavari and make them self reliant by helping them earn their livelihood and become responsible citizens.
Skill trainings are aimed at people who are either already engaged or interested in self employment. These trainings are pertinent to people who avail financial assistance under various government programs such as subsidy cum loan under BC, SC, Kapu, Minority and ST Corporations of Government of AP and bank loans under Mudra Scheme, PMEGP and Stand Up India of Government of India.
It is also for any other local youth who would like to skill or upskill and wish to set up an industry either through equity or equity and loan in East Godavari District.
The candidates who are already engaged in self employment are suitable for skill upgradation in their respective domain skills along with business development skills. These are termed as short term trainings with a time duration of 1 - 2 weeks. For the fresh candidates who are interested to start their own business, basic skilling over a longer period ranging from 1 - 3 months is suitable.
The success of self employment trainings are gauged through % bank linkage and grounding of sustainable business units.
Job trainings lead to job placement of candidates. These trainings are either conducted by the recruiting company or by the training organisation. The target group for job trainings are unemployed youth especially youngsters belonging to underprivileged communities such as SC, ST and women. Here, % placement of the trained candidates is a measure to assess the effectiveness of job trainings.
In East Godavari district, there are about 1 Lakh youth graduate from colleges under higher education and technical education department. These fresh graduates benefit from job trainings and job melas under the agies of Kaushal Godavari.
Job Mela is a platform where the corporates and candidates interact to understand their needs and expectations respectively. These provide opportunity for rural youth especially girls to interact face to face with corporates, gather information on jobs and get rewarded with jobs.
In this program, a group of employers are invited for a mass gathering of unemployed youth. Large no. of youth are mobilised from nearby areas. Employers explain to the candidates about the eligibility for a particular job and candidates clarify their queries during a job mela
With the idea of decentralising trainings , Kaushal Godavari Kendras are identified for conducting skill and job training programs. All the available govt. training centres and buildings in the district are identified as KGKs. These KGKs are under the purview of the Mandal Development Officers/ Revenue Division Officers depending on the location of the KGK.
KGVs are engaged to support the Mandal Development Officer and facilitate the training programs, KGVs will be positioned at mandal level for a tenure of 6 months. They will be given a stipend and appreciation certificate from the district administration
