Automotive sector is driven by high domestic demand and export market. It registered a overall growth rate of 5.4% in passenger, commercial vehicles,3 wheelers and 2 wheelers production during 2016-17. Electric vehicle market is also expanding rapidly with favourable EV policy. In its recent report, NSDC cited that the manpower requirement of automotive sector stands at 15 million in the next 5 years.
Further, the southern states have collectively emerged as a major automotive hub. Sri City in Andhra Pradesh is already emerged as a major auto cluster. Kia Motors in Anantapur, AP is another upcoming cluster. Therefore, the demand for skilled people is high in manufacturing, service and sales functions of automotive sector in Andhra Pradesh. Being a high potential sector for employment, training and placement target is 5,000 candidates.
In this scenario, job and skill trainings in automotive sector are very important to create jobs for the unemployed youth especially among SC, ST, and BC youth in East Godavari.
